Handyman’s Mica Hardware is a family run business, that has been operating in Morley since 1965.
When Harry first opened Handyman’s it was located at 49b Queen Street and soon expanded to take on 49a as well. In 1969 we moved to the Town Hall Buildings where we stayed for 14 years.
In 1983 we moved onto Peel Street. Whilst at Peel Street, Harry took early retirement and the business was bought out by his sons Brian & David.
We stayed in Peel Street until 1991 when we further expanded into the old Primitive Methodist Chapel on Fountain Street.
During our time in the chapel we also had the shop across the road as our decorating store, which housed all the paints & wallpapers.
In 2004 we moved everything into the decorating shop & the old chapel was turned into flats.
Handyman’s is still owned by Brian & David, and family is still present with two of Brian’s three children working with him - one in the shop & one in the sister company, Morley Self Drive.
About 10 years ago we joined Mica Hardware. Mica are a buying group who give us the opportunity to buy goods at competitive prices. This means that any savings we make get passed straight on to our customers.
We have a host of friendly, experienced staff who are always happy to help with any query you may have & we aim to provide our customers with a pleasant shopping experience.
Although the shop is deceptively small we carry a large stock range covering the full DIY spectrum. Any product that you cannot find in store can usually be sourced quickly from one of our many suppliers.
We try to provide our customers the goods they need in the quantities they want. For this you’ll find we sell screws loose if you don’t need a full box, cable by the metre and timber and sheet materials can be cut to size.
